Deadly missile strike hits Riyadh airport

A missile attack rocked King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday. At least 12 people died and 309 were wounded, Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said. The missiles landed direct hits on Terminals 3 and 4, which serve domestic flights.
The dead included four Saudis, two people from Bangladesh, and one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt. Flights were suspended while crews assess the damage, and arrivals were diverted to other airports.
This was the third attack on the airport this week. Thursday’s strikes killed three people and damaged a Saudia Airlines plane. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis have escalated their missile campaign against Saudi Arabia. Asked whether the U.S. would help Saudi Arabia retaliate, President Trump said, “We may.”

Nobel Peace Prize goes to Navi Pillay; Trump fires back

The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize went to Navanethem “Navi” Pillay, an 85-year-old South African jurist honored for a lifetime defending international law. She defended anti-apartheid activists in South Africa, served as a judge on the International Criminal Court and the Rwanda tribunal, and ran the UN human rights office.
President Trump, who campaigned hard for the prize, called the choice “disgraceful” and wrote, “I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1.”
Hours after the announcement, the Trump administration imposed new financial sanctions on the International Criminal Court. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the U.S. will “ban transactions with this rogue court.” The court called it an assault on the rule of law, and eight countries — Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom — reaffirmed their support for it. Pillay herself called the sanctions “unheard of, unacceptable.”

Trump announces diesel deal with Russia

President Trump said Friday that Russia will supply the U.S. and global markets with diesel after a call with Vladimir Putin: 300,000 tons immediately, 500,000 tons in November, one million tons after that, and another three million tons later — 4.8 million tons total, though Trump said the biggest tranche depends on the condition of Russian refineries.
The Treasury Department then temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian diesel sales through April 7, 2027. The move reverses years of U.S. pressure on Russian energy and comes three weeks before the November 3 midterms, with diesel prices near record highs — AAA put the pump price at a record $6.528 a gallon on September 22. Energy traders warned the volumes may be “too little, too late.”

Supreme Court sides with Trump team in campaign-ad dispute
The justices blocked — for now — an appeals court order that gave the FCC two days to rule on Democratic candidates’ complaints about broadcast ad rates ahead of the midterms. Democrats say the FCC’s new rate policy favors Republicans. (Single source: USA Today)

ICE officers shoot man in the Bronx with his 5-year-old son in the car
Thursday afternoon in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx, federal immigration officers shot 28-year-old Oscar Belgal, a Dominican national, in the neck while trying to arrest him. Senior ICE official Marcos Charles said Belgal drove his car toward the officers’ vehicles and agents fired believing they were in danger. Belgal’s 5-year-old son sat in the back seat and was not hurt. The boy’s father survived and is in federal custody.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani called ICE “rotten to its core,” demanded the agency leave the city, and said he failed to convince President Trump to release Belgal. Federal officials say the agents wore body cameras and the footage will be released.

ICE told to push daily arrests to 3,000
ICE leadership told agents nationwide to raise daily immigration arrests by 1,000 more a day, back to the 3,000-a-day goal the White House set earlier, according to sources. ICE had been averaging about 2,000 arrests a day; the new target is 19,000 a week. A Homeland Security spokesperson insisted there are “NO quotas on arrests.” (Single source: CNN exclusive)

California bullet-train CEO stripped of contracting power after travel-spending scandal

The California High-Speed Rail Board voted 7-2 on Friday to strip Chief Executive Ian Choudri of his sole authority to sign contracts under $25 million. The move follows an inspector-general audit showing consultants billed taxpayers for roughly $600,000 in questionable travel: first-class flights, prohibited international trips, rideshares to nightclubs, a cigar lounge, restaurants and an “escape room” — plus late-night rides to and from Choudri’s own home, explained only as “related to work with Ian.”
Board members called the agency a “piggy bank.” Staffers vowed to recover the misspent money.
